About the Captain

I am Ricky McDuffie, Captain of the SEA HUNTER.

Captain Ricky McDuffie

Captain Ricky McDuffie

I have lived in Orange Beach all of my life. My father was Carl McDuffie, he was a fisherman and the owner and captain of the Pompano. I grew up fishing and working with him as his mate.

My wife Eva, and I have two sons who’s names are Adam and Alex. They have the same love of fishing that I have. Adam is the first mate on the Sea Hunter and Alex is the captain of the charter fishing boat named Miss E which is located at the Flora Bama Marina.

I offer all types of fishing trips to suit the various needs of the fishermen that enjoy fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. On two day charters we fish for Marlin, Wahoo, Dolphin, Swordfish and Tuna. Fishing for tuna is becoming more popular for the fishing enthusiasts. The tuna bite is strong and we have had great success when fishing for Yellow and Black Fin Tuna. On 6, 8, 10 or 12 hour trips we enjoy bottom fishing for Red Snapper, Trigger, Amerjack, Grouper and Scamp among many other species. These trips are a great way to get acquainted with gulf fishing.

The highest percentage of my business comes from repeat customers with word of mouth being my main source of advertisement. I have a reputation to uphold which keeps me doing my very best to keep you smiling and coming back for more. Please give me a call today and let’s go fishing.

Embarked on an 18hr trip 4/22. Seas a bit rough (4-6) through the night and increased a bit. Arrived at first rig and began fishing……or better yet CATCHING right off the bat. Blackfin were eating up our baits and the action was super. Next stop was AJ’s. Again we weren’t fishing, we were catching!! Almost as soon as the bait was in the water, wham, fish on! Limited out with very good average size probably in the 35 – 40# range. Captain Ricky knows where to go to catch the fish. Boat was top-notch. Even had a ‘Large Green Egg’ on board for great fresh grilled fish and whatever else one wants to toss on the grill. My first time on this boat………. but surely won’t be my last.

I fished with your Dad on the Papano in the later fifties . My brother Billy Coggin (deceased) and Tommy Prater (deceased) from Mobile made numerous trips with Captain Carl. I was captain and owner of the Leslie Anne and won 1st and 3rd place in the 1985 Orange Beach Marina Blue Marlin Tournament.

I have a group 4 to 6 men who have expressed an interest in fishing with the best captain in Orange Beach. I will be recommending the Sea Hunter to them and will look forward to seeing if we can make this happem.

    Thanks, Tom Coggin
